The eight-pointed star is one of the most effective blocks when it is fussy-cut. I had 2 yards of the border print and was intrigued with all the different designs I got when making the twelve 6″ blocks. By the time I got to cutting the sashing to go between the 6″ blocks, I was down to very little fabric. The slightly wider sashing between the middle two 6″ blocks on each side is actually made up of three pieces of fabric, because that is all the fabric I had left
